Battersea Children

Working Mums Battersea has a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Our service is family oriented and we want to make our children feel at home whilst learning.

The Setting

Our nursery is located in a in a beautiful Victorian building of historical interest as it was a former Coroner Court. It has high ceiling and wide windows which make the rooms bright, especially the preschool.

We have different amenities around such as Lachtmere centre, playground, Battersea Park and the local library.

Outdoor Space

We have a small private outdoor space. We have a mud kitchen, sand and water available on a daily basis, a corner where children have opportunities to read and enjoy mark making opportunities. Each room has the opportunity to enjoy outdoor activities twice a day. In order to support children’s physical development we take the children for walks and to the local playground on a weekly basis.

We have a small garden within the nursery but we are lucky to have a local park and a playground where we take children daily.

Indoor Space

Our rooms are divided into corners/spaces for the children to explore and play. Resources are accessible for children to encourage them to make own decisions. We provide sensory and messy activities throughout the day, rooms have sand and water available for the children to play with at all time.
We love the high ceilings in the preschool room, it windows and how spacious is.
We have a sport session every Monday with Sporty Mini.

Our Statement

The key statements from our last Ofsted inspection showed that our staff have caring, warm relationships with children. They spend time getting to know children well and use this information to help children to settle successfully.

Staff support children’s early mathematical skills well. They know many different shape names. Staff teach children good early literacy skills. For example, children know alphabet letters and the sounds they represent, and many can recognise their names in print. Babies enjoy a wide range of sensory activities to support their development.

Safeguarding is effective. Staff have full knowledge of the signs and symptoms of possible abuse and the procedures to follow if they have any welfare concerns about children. Staff help to ensure children are protected from harm. They help to reduce the risk of accidents, for instance, by carrying out comprehensive checks covering all parts of the premises, toys and resources.
